Explore Istanbul

Istanbul is a vibrant and historic city that straddles two continents, Europe and Asia, making it a unique and culturally rich destination. Some landmarks include Hagia Sophia: Originally a Byzantine cathedral, later converted into an Ottoman mosque, and now a museum (as of my last knowledge update in 2022, please check for any changes). The Blue Mosque (Sultan Ahmed Mosque): A stunning example of Ottoman architecture, known for its blue tiles and six minarets and Topkapi Palace: The former palace of Ottoman sultans, now a museum showcasing imperial collections, including the Prophet Muhammad’s cloak and sword.

Top Tips for Istanbul!

Tipping is common in restaurants (10-15%), taxis (round up), and for hotel services.

An efficient network includes trams, metro, buses, and ferries. The Istanbulkart is a rechargeable card that can be used for all public transport.

Visit the Grand Bazaar; one of the world’s largest and oldest covered markets, ideal for shopping for jewellrey, textiles, and souvenirs.

The call to prayer (adhan) is heard five times a day. Be mindful when visiting religious sites during these times.
