Description
We The Curious is an innovative science and arts centre located on Bristol’s harbourside in Canon’s Wharf, near Millennium Square. Originally opened in 2000 as At-Bristol and rebranded in 2017, it occupies a historic goods shed built in 1906. The centre is home to the UK’s first public 3D planetarium. After being closed for over two years due to a fire in 2022, it reopened in July 2024 and now welcomes around 300,000 visitors annually. The charity’s mission is to inspire curiosity and creativity through interactive science experiences and community engagement.
Inside, visitors can explore over 200 hands-on exhibits across two floors, covering topics such as rainbows, robots, bubbles, and the human brain. The flagship exhibition, Project What If, was co-created with local residents and presents seven thought-provoking citywide questions through interactive “constellations” of displays. Other highlights include the Tinkering Space with robotics and 3D printers, human body exhibits, a Live Lab for experimental science, and more. The planetarium offers presenter-led shows in 3D for most ages, with 2D shows available for younger children due to eye safety guidelines.
We The Curious is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm during school terms, and every day during school holidays and bank holidays. Entry requires booking a day ticket online, with prices varying depending on time and concessions. Children under two and personal assistants enter free. The venue is fully accessible, with lifts, hearing loops, Changing Places facilities, and free admission for carers. Visitors can leave and re-enter on the same day, and there’s a café and gift shop onsite. Due to its popularity, booking ahead is strongly recommended to avoid disappointment. We The Curious is a vibrant and engaging destination, perfect for families, school groups, and anyone curious about science and creativity.
