Description
War Photo Limited in Dubrovnik is a poignant exhibition centre dedicated to the art of war photography. Situated in the heart of the Old Town at Antuninska 6, the gallery occupies a historic building just off the main street, Stradun. Established in 2003 by New Zealand-born photojournalist Wade Goddard, the museum aims to educate the public about the realities of war through the lens of renowned photographers. Its mission is to present war as it truly is—raw, venal, and frightening—by focusing on how war inflicts injustices on both innocents and combatants alike.
The museum's exhibitions are spread across two floors, covering a total area of 350 square meters. The permanent exhibition on the second floor focuses on the Croatian War of Independence, featuring iconic photographs from the siege of Dubrovnik in the early 1990s. Temporary exhibitions, which change two to three times a year, showcase works from various global conflicts, including those in Gaza, Iraq, Syria, and Ukraine. These exhibitions highlight the work of world-renowned photojournalists who have risked their lives to capture the human cost of war.
War Photo Limited is open daily during the tourist season. From April to October, the museum operates from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the last admission at 4:00 PM. From May through September, it extends its hours until 10:00 PM, with the last entry at 9:00 PM. The museum is closed from November through March. Admission fees are 10 euros for adults, 6 euros for students with valid ID, and 7 euros per person for groups of 10 or more. Audio guides in multiple languages, including English, German, Spanish, French, Croatian, Italian, and Polish, are available via smartphone or tablet.
