The museum's architecture reflects traditional Malay design, featuring a grand entrance with Italian glass mosaic murals depicting historical scenes. Adjacent to the museum are the Malay World Ethnology Museum, Orang Asli Crafts Museum, and Music Gallery, offering visitors a comprehensive exploration of the nation's cultural diversity.
The museum operates daily from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with the last admission at 4:30 PM. It remains closed on the first and second days of Eid al-Fitr and the first day of Eid al-Adha. Admission fees are RM2 for Malaysian adults, RM1 for seniors and disabled individuals, and free for children under 12 and secondary school students in uniform.
