Description

Itacoatiara beach is known as the hotspot for surfers and the youth, and it has 700 meters of extension that are surrounded by a lush greenery. On the right corner you can find “Prainha”, an alternative for families with children, since this beach usually has no waves. Itaipu beach is one of the oldest in the city and houses a fishermen colony, a church from the beginning of the 18th century and the Museu de Arqueologia (Archeology Museum). From its calm water come out fish, shrimp, squid and mussels that go straight to the kitchens of the restaurants on the sea-side.

Camboinhas beach is an extension of Itaipu beach and is a popular destination amongst sailors and windsurfers. Its shore is filled with kiosks specialized in seafood. Piratininga beach, on the other hand, is made up of the junction of two beaches that add up to an extension of 2,700 meters; the most extensive one has small waves and a smaller portion has shallow, calm waters. The Sossego Beach is hidden in between Camboinhas and Piratininga. It is a little difficult to access this beach, but a small trail takes the visitors to a small patch of sand. Like Itacoatira, Sossego beach is also part of the Blue Flag International Programme.
