Description
Punta Galera is a stunning natural coastal spot on Ibiza’s west coast, located a few kilometres north of Sant Antoni de Portmany. Unlike traditional sandy beaches, it features wide, flat rock formations that resemble layered terraces—remnants of an old quarry. These smooth stone platforms provide a unique and peaceful setting for sunbathing, meditating, or enjoying breath-taking views over the shimmering Mediterranean Sea.
The area is popular among snorkelers and cliff divers due to its clear, deep waters and rich marine life, including fish and colourful sea vegetation. While swimming here is a memorable experience, the rocky seabed and occasional jellyfish mean caution is advised, especially since there are no lifeguards. Punta Galera is also a discreet, nudist-friendly spot, cherished by those looking for a quieter, more natural Ibiza experience away from the crowds.
Visitors should come prepared, as there are no facilities—no bars, restrooms, or shaded areas—so bring plenty of water, food, sunscreen, and sturdy shoes for the uneven terrain. Access is either by boat or on foot via a steep trail from the road to Cala Salada. The area is especially popular at sunset, offering some of the most dramatic and serene views on the island, making it a must-visit for photographers, nature lovers, and anyone seeking solitude in a raw, beautiful setting.
