Description
Mykonos' most bohemian beach is found to the north of Mykonos Town, about a 7km-drive away. The frequent winds make it a favorite of windsurfers, but also keep almost everyone else away. It’s therefore never crowded, and only a small section by the bar has sunbeds.
It’s worth going up the steps to the bar for a view over the beach. You’ll see that it’s quite large, but remains surprisingly (and thankfully) undeveloped. You’ll always have plenty of space to spread your towel, and often no one around you in the crystal-clear sea (but usually have to fight the wind).
Things to do:-
- Natural Beauty – The beach is known for its soft golden sand and the contrast of the turquoise blue waters. The rocky hills in the background add to the scenic landscape.
- Swimming and Sunbathing – The waters are calm and shallow, making Paralia Ftelias ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Families with children frequent this beach.
- Snorkeling – There are some rocky sections and reefs that make this beach suitable for snorkeling to see marine life.
- Cycling – There’s a bike path leading to Paralia Ftelias beach for those who want to cycle.
- Beach Bars – There are a few beach bars, cafes and tavernas along Paralia Ftelias to grab a bite and drinks.
