Description
Nish Nush is a vibrant Middle Eastern street food eatery located at 100 Bree Street in Cape Town's city center. Founded by Israeli-born Ofer Hollinger, the restaurant began as a small hummus hatch in 2021 and has since expanded into a cozy café with indoor and outdoor seating, including a charming courtyard. The name "Nish Nush" translates to "snack" in Hebrew, reflecting the establishment's focus on authentic, flavorful bites inspired by Middle Eastern cuisine.
The menu at Nish Nush features a variety of dishes made from scratch daily, including their renowned falafel, shawarma, and hummus bowls. Signature offerings include the Lebanese arayes—crispy pita pockets filled with spiced lamb and beef mince, drizzled with tahini and amba sauce—and sabich, a vegetarian pita filled with fried aubergine, boiled egg, salad, tahini, and amba. Other popular items are kofta, matbucha, and crispy potato disks served with spicy mayo. Desserts like malabi (a coconut milk and rosewater panna cotta) and chocolate tahini frozen fudge slices add a sweet finish to the meal.
Nish Nush operates Monday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 10:00 PM, offering both dine-in and takeout options. They also provide catering services for private events, including build-your-own pita stations and platters to share. Happy hour is available daily from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, featuring drink specials such as 2 draught beers for R90 and 2 Aperol Spritz for R150.
