Description
Mount Srđ, overlooking Dubrovnik, is a popular destination for stunning panoramic views of the city, the Adriatic Sea, and surrounding islands. The easiest and most scenic way to reach the summit is by taking the cable car, which departs from a station just outside the Old Town near Ploče Gate. The ride lasts about four minutes and offers breath-taking vistas as it ascends 412 meters above sea level, making it a favourite experience for tourists.
At the top, visitors can enjoy a viewing platform with sweeping views of Dubrovnik’s ancient walls, red-tiled rooftops, and the sparkling coastline. There’s also a café and restaurant where guests can relax and savour local cuisine while soaking in the scenery. For those interested in history, the site features a small museum dedicated to the Croatian War of Independence, offering insight into the area’s recent past. Outdoor enthusiasts can explore several hiking trails starting from the summit, which lead through nature and offer more spectacular viewpoints.
The cable car operates daily, typically from morning until early evening, though hours may vary seasonally. Tickets cost around 170 HRK (about €23) for a round trip, with discounts available for children, seniors, and groups. It’s recommended to check the latest schedule before visiting, especially during off-season periods. Visitors should bring a camera, wear comfortable clothing, and prepare for changing weather conditions at the higher elevation to fully enjoy the experience atop Mount Srđ.
