Description
Markideio Theatre is located in the centre of Paphos, on Andrea Geroudi Street. It’s a modern, purpose-built theatre that opened in 2018, featuring a 410-seat auditorium designed to offer both comfort and excellent functionality. The venue was built to replace an older structure while preserving the name “Markideio” in honour of Sotirakis Markidis, a key figure in the cultural and political history of the city.
The theatre’s programming includes a diverse range of performances, from classical and contemporary plays to concerts, ballet, and dance. It regularly hosts events by the Cyprus Symphony Orchestra as well as community and amateur theatre groups. With advanced sound and lighting systems, the space is well-suited to both local productions and touring shows, making it a central hub for the performing arts in Paphos.
There is no formal dress code, but smart-casual attire is typically worn. Markideio Theatre is easily accessible from the town centre, with convenient parking and landscaped public areas leading up to the entrance. Ticket prices vary depending on the event, and discounts are often available for students and seniors. Whether you're attending a cultural festival or a theatrical premiere, the theatre offers a refined yet welcoming atmosphere for all visitors.
