Description
La Perle aux Oiseaux is a peaceful animal sanctuary located just 15–20 minutes from central Marrakech. Founded by a passionate couple, Salma and Selim, this refuge is set within a large olive grove and is home to over 700 animals from more than 100 species. Many of these animals have been rescued and now live safely in this well-maintained, natural environment. The sanctuary is ideal for families looking to escape the city’s hustle and enjoy a quiet, shaded walk surrounded by birdsong and wildlife.
The experience is especially engaging for children. Families can choose between exploring on their own or joining a 1.5-hour guided tour where stories about each animal's background are shared. Kids love feeding friendly animals such as goats, doves, and donkeys, and the hands-on interaction creates long-lasting memories. The sanctuary focuses on education and conservation, and the care and passion of the staff make it feel like a heartfelt project rather than just a tourist attraction. It’s a calm and meaningful outing, perfect for curious minds of all ages.
La Perle aux Oiseaux is open Tuesday to Sunday from 10:30 AM to 6:00 PM. Entry costs around 120 MAD for adults (about €12) and 80 MAD for children aged 2–12 (around €8). Guided tours are available for an additional fee—approximately 500 MAD for adults and 180 MAD for kids. There are also special activities like “little zookeeper” days, priced at about 600 MAD per child, and optional meal packages. Advance reservations are required to keep the experience intimate and relaxed. This charming sanctuary offers families a thoughtful and memorable way to connect with nature near Marrakech.
