Cuervo Volcano, also known as Caldera de los Cuervos, marks the very first eruption in the major Timanfaya eruption sequence that reshaped Lanzarote between 1730 and 1736. Located in the protected La Geria landscape, just north of Timanfaya National Park, this extinct cinder cone features a partially open crater that visitors can safely enter and explore on foot. The dark volcanic terrain contrasts vividly with the reddish Fire Mountains nearby, offering a striking geological snapshot of the island's volcanic past.

Access is straightforward via the LZ‑56 road, which runs between Mancha Blanca and Tinajo. From the small parking area adjacent to the road, a circular and gently sloping trail of about 2.3 km guides visitors around and into the crater. The route is well signposted and includes educational panels interpreting the natural environment and volcanic processes. The total walk typically takes around an hour and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

Visitors are advised to wear comfortable shoes, bring water and sun protection, and stay on the marked path to help preserve the fragile landscape. Leaving the trail or collecting volcanic material is prohibited. The best times to visit are early morning or late afternoon when the light enhances the crater’s texture and temperatures are milder. There are no onsite facilities, so plan accordingly before your outing.
