Description
The CityCat is Brisbane's iconic river ferry service, offering both a practical mode of transport and a scenic way to explore the city. Operating along the Brisbane River, the CityCat fleet includes 27 vessels, including newer double-decker ferries that provide enhanced capacity and comfort. These ferries connect 22 terminals, stretching from the University of Queensland in St Lucia to Northshore Hamilton, making it convenient for commuters and tourists alike.
Designed with accessibility in mind, all CityCats are equipped with features to accommodate passengers with disabilities. Each ferry provides space for wheelchairs and mobility scooters, with dedicated areas available. Many terminals are fully accessible, and hearing augmentation systems are installed on board to assist passengers with hearing impairments. Certified guide, hearing, or assistance dogs are welcome on all CityCats, provided they are wearing their certified badges.
To use the CityCat service, passengers need a valid ticket, which can be purchased using a go card or contactless smart payment systems. Cash payments are not accepted on board. Fares are generally affordable, with a flat rate for most public transport journeys in Brisbane. Schedules and operating hours vary, so it’s a good idea to check the latest timetable before planning your trip.
