Description
The Coliseum is the mythical cinema in the city center of Marrakech, built in 1953, arranged by the architect Georges Peynet, who also designed Parisian cinemas such as Le Max Linder, Le Vendôme-Opéra, and Le Paramount-Elysées. Completely renovated several times, it is equipped with digital projection and sound. The room with an opening roof has a capacity of 750 seats spread over two levels. The Colosseum has hosted the Marrakech International Film Festival since its creation, European Film Week and Le Marrakech du Rire . The Coliseum works for the promotion of Moroccan film, education through images for young audiences and offers a diversified program without distinction between mainstream cinema and auteur cinema.
