Description
The Bygdøy peninsula is home to three main beaches: Huk, Paradisbukta, and Bygdøy Sjøbad. Huk is easily the most popular and it's also the simplest to access, a short walk from the bus stop of the same name. Paradisbukta and Bygdøy Sjøbad require a bit more walking but it's well worth the effort as they are surrounded by beautiful nature. All the beaches have platforms in the water, as well as kiosks, toilets, and outdoor showers.
Bygdøy Sjøbad and its sheltered sandy beach lies on the north-west of the peninsula. If you're coming from the city, hop off the bus at the Kongsgården stop. Walk back the way you came and you'll come to a sign pointing towards Bygdøy Sjøbad. Following this sign, you will walk past a farm on your right for about 5 minutes, until you get to a shadier part with more trees where you'll find another sign. If you're coming from Huk beach it's about a 25-minute walk, heading north on Strømsborgveien toward Chr. Frederiks vei and following the signed path. Another interesting option is to start your day at Huk beach and then go to Paradisbukta, from there it's just a 15-minute walk to the Sjøbad.
This is an excellent spot to practice stand-up padding due to the calm water.
