Description
Aquaparque Madeira is a family-friendly waterpark in Santa Cruz, on the east coast of Madeira. It has capacity for over a thousand people and includes a range of water attractions: recreational pools, a children’s pool (“Aqualandia”), several water slides (around three standard slides), fast lanes, a fast river, a “black hole” slide, a lazy/slow river, and other leisure pool areas. There are also non-water attractions: a bird show with exotic and birds of prey (running daily), plus a mini-zoo where visitors can see some animals up close. Facilities include changing rooms, bar, and terrace to grab a drink or snack while relaxing by the pools.
The park runs seasonally (summer) and is typically open every day during its season from about 10:00 am until 18:00, though on some days (e.g. Sundays) it extends to around 21:00. Pricing is by age group: adults pay about €10, youths (12–17) around €12, children (4–11) around €9, and children under 4 enter free. There are also discounts for groups, large families, and residents of Madeira.
When planning a visit, expect to spend a full day to make the most of it — the water slides, rivers, animal shows, and relaxing in the pool areas. Bring swimwear, towels, sun protection, and a change of clothes. Free parking is available on site. Travel-wise, if you have a car it's straightforward via Madeira's roads; public transport options exist (local buses) though schedule and stops should be checked in advance. Peak heat days are best for water park visits, and arriving early helps beat the crowds.
