Description
Alameda Wildlife Conservation Park, nestled within the picturesque Gibraltar Botanic Gardens, offers a serene and educational experience for visitors of all ages. Established in 1994, the park began as a sanctuary for animals confiscated from illegal trade, including parrots, land tortoises, and monkeys. Over the years, it has evolved into a vital conservation and education centre, focusing on the protection of endangered species and raising awareness about wildlife preservation.
The park is home to a diverse array of species, both native and exotic, many of which have been rescued or rehabilitated. Notable residents include the cotton-topped tamarin, ring-tailed lemur, and Asian short-clawed otter. These animals reside in thoughtfully designed enclosures that mimic their natural habitats, providing visitors with an immersive experience.
Alameda Wildlife Conservation Park is open Tuesday through Saturday from 10:00 AM to 4:30 PM, and on Monday from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM. The park is closed on Sundays and public holidays. Admission fees are £8.00 for adults, £5.00 for children (5–15 years), and £5.00 for seniors (65+), with children under 5 admitted free. Situated in the heart of Gibraltar, the park is easily accessible and provides a tranquil setting for visitors to learn about and appreciate wildlife conservation efforts, making it a meaningful and enjoyable experience for both locals and tourists.
