Description
Strandbad Wannsee is a renowned open-air lido situated on the eastern shore of Lake Wannsee in southwestern Berlin. Spanning approximately 1.2 kilometres in length and 80 meters in width, it is one of Europe's largest inland beaches. The beach is primarily sandy, with fine, Baltic-imported sand providing a comfortable setting for sunbathing and relaxation. The shallow waters make it particularly family-friendly, as the lakebed gently slopes, allowing for safe swimming experiences.
The lido offers a variety of recreational activities to its visitors. Facilities include beach volleyball courts, football pitches, ping-pong tables, and a children's playground. Additionally, there are over 1,000 rentable deckchairs and 260 beach baskets, with 60 designated for the nudist area. For those interested in water activities, boat rentals are available, and the beach is supervised by lifeguards from the German Red Cross and the German Life Saving Society, ensuring a safe environment for all guests.
Access to Strandbad Wannsee is facilitated by public transportation, including the S-Bahn to Nikolassee and the 312 bus during the summer months. The lido is equipped with accessible facilities, such as barrier-free toilets and showers, and offers designated beach chairs for visitors with disabilities. However, it’s important to note that the access paths from the entrance to the beach are currently undergoing renovation, which may affect accessibility.
