Description
The Telecabine Lisbon is a gondola-style cable car located in the modern Parque das Nações area of Lisbon, originally built for the 1998 Expo. It runs along a 1.2 km route between the Vasco da Gama Tower and the Oceanário, giving passengers a peaceful, elevated view of the city and the Tagus River. The ride lasts around 8 to 12 minutes, with 40 enclosed cabins that each hold up to eight people. It’s a fun and gentle experience that kids find both exciting and relaxing as they float above one of Lisbon’s most scenic waterfronts.
The ride is especially great for families with children because the cabins are fully enclosed, accessible to strollers and wheelchairs, and offer wide panoramic windows. From up high, you can spot Lisbon landmarks like the Oceanário, the MEO Arena, the Vasco da Gama shopping centre, and the impressive Vasco da Gama Bridge. It's a unique way for kids to learn about the city's modern architecture and enjoy a calm ride that feels a little like flying.
Ticket prices are approximately €7.50 one way for adults and €5.50 for children aged 3–12, while children under 2 ride for free. A round-trip costs about €9.50 for adults and €6.50 for kids. The cable car operates seasonally: from spring through summer, hours typically range from around 10:30 AM to 8:00 PM, with shorter hours in the off-season. Children under 13 must be accompanied by an adult. Eating, drinking (except water), and rocking the cabins are not allowed—but guide dogs are welcome. It's a short but memorable family activity, offering beautiful views and a new perspective of Lisbon.
