Description
Summer Land Camels, located in Harrisville, Queensland, is Australia’s largest camel dairy farm, offering a unique and engaging experience for families. Situated just 45 minutes from Brisbane, the farm provides a picturesque setting with green pastures and stunning mountain views. Visitors can enjoy free entry, allowing them to pat and photograph the camels at no cost. For a small fee, guests can purchase a $3 feed bag to feed the camels, making it an affordable and memorable activity for children.
The farm is particularly appealing to kids due to its interactive and educational experiences. Young visitors can feed and pet the gentle camels, providing a hands-on opportunity to learn about these fascinating animals. Additionally, the farm offers guided tours where families can discover how the farm operates and learn about the benefits of camel milk. Children also enjoy meeting baby camels and taking part in seasonal events like the Kids' Camel Farm Adventure, which features activities such as face painting and crafts.
Summer Land Camels is open daily from 9 am to 3 pm, excluding some public holidays. While entry is free, some activities require booking and additional fees. For example, camel rides are available for $33 per person, with age restrictions for children aged 4 years and over and a maximum weight limit of 100 kg per person or per double saddle. There’s also a VIP Camel Encounter experience for $40 that offers an intimate chance to interact closely with the camels. Visitors are advised to wear closed-in shoes and bring hats and sunscreen, as much of the farm is unshaded. Due to uneven terrain, prams and carriers are recommended for young children.
