Description
Mānoa Falls Trail is a popular 1.6-mile round-trip hike located in the lush Mānoa Valley on the island of Oʻahu, Hawaii. The trail winds through a tropical rainforest filled with bamboo groves, towering trees, and a variety of native plants. The hike culminates at the base of the stunning 150-foot Mānoa Falls, offering visitors a beautiful view of the cascading waterfall.
The trail is generally rated easy to moderate, with a gradual elevation gain of about 800 feet. However, the path can become muddy and slippery, especially after rain, so wearing proper footwear with good grip is important. Visitors should be cautious of potential hazards such as flash floods and bacteria in the water, which makes swimming or wading in the pools at the base of the falls strongly discouraged.
Mānoa Falls Trail is open daily from sunrise to sunset. The trailhead is located at the end of Mānoa Road, where parking is available for a fee. It’s best to plan your visit during daylight hours and check local conditions beforehand, as the trail may close temporarily due to weather or maintenance. This trail offers a rewarding experience for nature lovers seeking a peaceful rainforest hike with a spectacular waterfall destination.
