Description
One of the most important beaches in Nerja is Burriana beach. You can get there on foot quite easily from the center, though older people and kids may find the walk a bit long and it’s preferable to drive there or get a Nerja taxis. It’s one of the most visited beaches due to the amount of activities and services on offer. Also, it’s the only beach you can access directly from the “Parador de Turismo” in Nerja via their lift.
It has always been a very busy area and parking can be quite complicated. Luckily though, a couple of years ago they a public car park was built at the entrance of the beach.
This beach is prized with the blue flag (good quality) year after year. Also, it possessed the Q for Tourist Quality in 2016. It is 800m long and 40m wide and presents dark sand which makes it one of the most visited beaches in Nerja. Normally the waves are moderate.
Burriana beach is the perfect place for sporty people because it offers numerous activities. You can rent a paddle boat and relax, or try some “extreme” sports like jet-skiing or riding the “banana” boat.
Those who are really sporty can find 3 beach volleyball courts at their disposal. Here you can play with your friends and have a great afternoon. Also you can go paddleboarding or rent a kayak and go to the Maro cliffs. A place well worth visiting.
Another perfect plan that I propose is a long walk along the promenade. This promenade goes all along the beach and the statue of Antonio Mercero (director of the Verano Azul tv series) is located here. Also, on this promenade are a number of beach bars and restaurants where you can indulge into the Mediterranean diet and enjoy some excellent fried fish. Here you can also find the “AYO” beach restaurant, famous for its paella because you pay once and it much as you like.
