Description
Illusion Nice – Musée de l’Illusion is a fun, family-friendly indoor museum located at 5 rue Masséna, in the heart of Nice’s vibrant pedestrian zone. Spread over two floors and about 400 m², the museum features around 40 optical illusions and immersive exhibits. These include mind-bending installations like the upside-down room, the vortex tunnel, and the shrinking chair – all designed to trick your senses and make for great photos. It’s a hands-on, playful experience that appeals to both kids and adults, making it a perfect activity for a break from the beach or a rainy day in Nice.
The museum is open year-round, with hours from 10:00 to 18:00 Monday to Thursday, and 9:00 to 20:00 Friday to Sunday, on public holidays, and throughout July and August. Last entry is 45 minutes before closing. Tickets cost €15 for adults, €12 for children under 18, and children under 7 usually go free (one per paying adult). You can show up without a reservation, but it’s worth booking a time slot during weekends or school holidays to avoid queues – especially since reserved slots allow you to skip the line and deduct the small booking fee from your ticket price.
Visits are self-guided and typically take around 1 hour to 1 hour 45 minutes. There’s a flow system in place, so lingering too long in one area is discouraged. No food or drink is allowed inside. The museum is accessible to wheelchair users and has some adaptations for mental disabilities as well. It’s best suited for ages 7 and up, but adults will enjoy it just as much. There are no on-site cafés or shops, but plenty of options are nearby. Overall, Illusion Nice is a unique and entertaining experience, especially great for families, couples, or groups looking for something quirky and memorable in central Nice.
