The Bank Negara Malaysia Museum and Art Gallery (BNM MAG) is located in the Sasana Kijang building on Jalan Dato’ Onn, Kuala Lumpur. This public museum offers a comprehensive exploration of Malaysia's economic history, the role of Bank Negara Malaysia, and the nation's financial landscape. The museum spans four levels, featuring six permanent galleries: the Children's Gallery, Bank Negara Malaysia Gallery, Economics Gallery, Islamic Finance Gallery, Numismatics Gallery, and Art Gallery. These exhibits delve into topics such as Malaysia's economic development, Islamic finance, and the evolution of currency. The Art Gallery showcases a rotating display of Malaysian and ASEAN artworks, highlighting the central bank's support for the arts.
BNM MAG is open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and is closed on Mondays and the first three days of Hari Raya Aidilfitri. Admission is free, with the last entry at 4:30 PM. While walk-in visitors are welcome, groups of more than 20 people are required to make prior arrangements via email. Visitors are advised to dress appropriately for an air-conditioned environment and are permitted to bring only essential items such as wallets, mobile phones, and cameras. Other items, including bags and food, are not allowed inside. Lockers are available for storing personal belongings.
The museum is accessible by public transportation, with the Bank Negara KTM station being a short walk away. Parking is available at LG4 and LG5 of the building for a flat rate of RM3. Facilities within the museum include a café serving light snacks and beverages, a gift shop offering exclusive Bank Negara Malaysia merchandise, and amenities such as elevators, restrooms, and prayer rooms. The museum is fully accessible to visitors with disabilities, providing ramps and elevators to all floors.
