Bar.Kar KL is a contemporary dining destination located at Suite G-06, Ground Floor, G Tower, 199 Jalan Tun Razak, Kuala Lumpur. This innovative restaurant is the brainchild of the team behind Eat and Cook, including Executive Chefs Soh Yong Zhi and Lee Zhe Xi, and Head Chef Kevin Ng. The establishment specializes in wood-fired and open-flame cooking, offering a unique culinary experience that emphasizes bold Malaysian and Southeast Asian flavours. The name "Bar.Kar" is derived from the Malay word 'bakar,' meaning 'flame,' reflecting the restaurant's focus on fire-based cooking techniques.
Designed by Spacemen Studio, Bar.Kar's interior is inspired by ancient earth ovens and community cooking traditions. Guests are greeted by a dramatic arched entrance leading into a cavernous dining space adorned with earthy terracotta hues, red marble, and a striking gold metal mesh sculpture. The centrepiece is an 18-seat arc-shaped counter that offers diners an immersive view of the open kitchen and the chefs' live cooking performance. Additional dining options include The Cave Room, a private space for up to 12 guests, and two dining rooms accommodating 20 and 40 guests, respectively.
Bar.Kar operates daily with lunch service from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM and dinner from 6:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The restaurant offers a curated wine program known as the "Sip Plan," featuring selections from both Old and New World regions, including France, Spain, Germany, Italy, Australia, New Zealand, the USA, Argentina, and Chile. Guests are welcome to bring their own wine for a corkage fee. Reservations are recommended, especially for the chef's table and private dining rooms, to ensure a memorable dining experience.
