Description
Madeira WaterSports is a sea-activity company based in Madeira, Portugal, offering a variety of water sports including jet ski rental, parasailing, kayaking, stand-up paddleboarding, and banana boat rides. Their aim is to give visitors memorable outdoor experiences along Madeira’s coast, with activities suitable for different levels of confidence on the water. They provide all needed safety gear, like life jackets, and give instructions to those who haven’t done the activity before. The company operates at several launch points such as Porto de Recreio do Funchal (Cais 8) and Praia do Gorgulho / Gavinas.
Most activities don’t require previous experience, making them suitable for beginners as well as more adventurous visitors. Children aged 6 and up can join many of the activities (parasailing included at that age) under certain conditions. All participants must use life jackets, follow safety briefings, and be aware that activities may be delayed or cancelled in poor weather. Some locations may require a short swim from the beach to the activity platform, so basic water confidence is helpful.
As for cost and how long to allow: jet ski rental starts from about €45 for short sessions (15 minutes) and increases with duration. Kayak or stand-up paddleboarding is generally around €15 per person per hour. Banana boat rides start at approximately €50 for small groups. Parasailing is higher in price, beginning at around €80 for solo flights, with duo or trio rides costing more. The flying time is about 10–15 minutes, but total time per session is closer to 30 minutes. Expect to spend 1 to 2 hours per activity including check-in and briefing. Bring swimwear, towel, sun protection, change of clothes, and waterproof shoes if possible. Booking ahead is recommended, especially in high season.
